Scooters
I'm interested in getting a Vectrix electric scooter, just as a little runaround for doing errands and local journeys when the weather is nice. Has anybody ever used one? What are they like to ride, are they heavy or light, and can you wear a skirt on one or is that a PG-13 experience?

The vectrix maxi-scooter was a great vehicle. Good top speed and reasonable range. Parts were top of the line. Regenerative braking was fantastic. But last i heard the company went bankrupt and were no longer making this great innovation: http://www.dealernews.com/dealernews/Latest+headlines/Vectrix-Preparing-For-Bankruptcy/ArticleStandard/Article/detail/611436?ref=25
There however should be a used market in the vehicles. http://www.motorcyclesupermarket.com/motorcycle-scooter/Vectrix-motorcycle-scooter/Vectrix-motorcycle-scooter.php or http://www.cycletrader.com/find/browse/type/scooter/vectrix
Unlike a motorcycle you don“t have to straddle a scooter. The safe placement of your skirt would therefore only depend upon how successfully the front sheds the wind and how much wind is passing down the skirt compared to the other direction. A discrete test drive would easily provide the answer.
What is heavy or light very much depends upon how tall you are and how much weight you can handle. Like a motorcycle the trick is to keep the vehicle balanced on it’s two wheels. The further from balanced it becomes the more weight you will have to be physically handling. Like a bicycle, once moving balance is much easier.
I don’t own one but I suppose if it is for sale, people have ridden them!
You asked!
